Focus and Scope
Acta Biochimica Indonesiana is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by the Indonesian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ISBMB/PBBMI). The journal publishes original research articles, short communications, and selected review articles in biochemistry, molecular biology, and related interdisciplinary fields. It provides a platform for researchers to communicate scientifically relevant findings, methodological developments, and advances in the understanding of biological processes at the molecular level.
ActaBioIna provides immediate and unrestricted access to its published content, allowing scientific knowledge to be accessed and disseminated without subscription barriers. The journal publishes two issues annually and has adopted a continuous publication model since 2021, enabling accepted articles to be published as soon as the editorial and production processes are completed rather than waiting for the completion of an entire issue.
The journal serves an international readership of researchers, academics, postgraduate students, and professionals working in biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, biotechnology, and related life science disciplines. Its content is intended for both fundamental and applied research communities, including those engaged in experimental, computational, and translational studies.
ActaBioIna is listed in several scholarly indexing and discovery services, including the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Science and Technology Index (SINTA), GARUDA, Google Scholar, Dimensions, and Scilit. Published articles are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to support persistent identification and citation. Authors retain copyright of their published work and grant the journal the right of first publication. Articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), permitting sharing and adaptation for non-commercial purposes with appropriate attribution.
The aim of ActaBioIna is to advance scientific knowledge in biochemistry and molecular biology by publishing original, methodologically sound, and scientifically significant research. The journal seeks to facilitate the exchange of ideas and findings across disciplines, encourage the development and application of experimental and computational approaches, and contribute to a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying biological systems. Particular emphasis is placed on research that provides meaningful insights into fundamental biological processes or contributes to developments in health, agriculture, biotechnology, and other areas of life science.
The scope of ActaBioIna encompasses a broad range of research in biochemistry and molecular biology, including the structure, function, and interactions of biological molecules; enzymology and metabolic regulation; DNA and chromosome biology; RNA biology; genetics and gene regulation; cellular and molecular mechanisms; signal transduction; immunology; microbiology; plant biology; proteomics; and molecular pharmacology. The journal also welcomes studies in bioinformatics, computational biology, and biotechnology, as well as the development of analytical methods, experimental techniques, and research resources relevant to biochemical and molecular investigations. Interdisciplinary contributions are encouraged, provided that their research questions, methodologies, and findings demonstrate a clear and substantive connection to biochemistry or molecular biology.
