Peer Review Process

The submitted manuscript will be checked by an editor whether the requirements are complete or not. After the requirements is complete, it will be evaluated whether it is suitable with our focus and scope or has a major methodological flaw. Authors will be given two weeks after notification is sent to complete them. Failure to complete will make the manuscript rejected without being reviewed. Every submitted manuscript which pass this step will be screened for plagiarism before being reviewed by two reviewers.

This journal uses double-blind review, The manuscript will be sent to the reviewer anonymously. Reviewers' comment are also sent anonymously to corresponding author to take the necessary actions and responses. The decision of the revised manuscript will be then evaluated in editorial board meeting, the final decision of whom are sent to the corresponding author.

Acta Biochimica Indonesiana is published twice a year (in June and December)

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

All materials are free to be copied and redistributed in any medium or format. However, appropriate credit should be given. This content licensing is in accordance with a CC license: CC-BY-NC.

 

 

Archiving

Acta Biochimica Indonesiana has electronic backup and preservation of access to the content of its journal via PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). PKP has developed the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to digitally preserve OJS journals. The LOCKSS program offers decentralized and distributed preservation, seamless perpetual access, and preservation of the authentic original version of the content. The PKP PN ensures journals that are not part of any other digital preservation service (such as CLOCKSS or Portico) can be preserved for long-term access.

We allowed authors to deposit all version (Submitted version, Accepted version, and Published version) of the manuscript to be deposited in an institutional or other repository of the author’s choice without embargo.

 

Article Processing Charges

The Acta Biochimica Indonesiana journal only charges the article publication fee for all manuscript types, without any submission fee.

The publication fee is US$75 for foreign authors and IDR 1.000,000,- for Indonesian authors.

When the accepted manuscript has been proofread by the authors, Acta Biochimica Indonesiana office will send the invoice to the corresponding author and they need to complete the payment process before being published.

All authors may ask a waive, and they need to send a letter of waiver to editor-in-chief explaining the importance of the study and why author(s) need to be waived. The decision is made prior to the process of the review and it is the editors' privilege to approve or reject the request.

 

 

Plagiarism Screening Policy

All manuscripts submitted to The Acta Biochimica Indonesiana will be screened for plagiarism by using Crossref Similarity Check.

 

Publication Ethics

This journal follows guidelines from Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in facing all aspects of publication ethics and, in particular, how to handle cases of research and publication misconduct. All articles in this journal involving human subjects should respect principles of research ethics as described in Declaration of Helsinki and studies involving animals should obey the International Guiding Principles for Biomedical Research as developed by the Council for International Organization of Medical Sciences (CIOMS).

Acta Biochimica Indonesiana adapts COPE to meet high quality standard of ethics for publisher, editors, authors, and reviewers. As an essential issue, publication ethics needs to be explained clearly to improve the quality of the research worldwide. In this part, we explain the standard for editors, authors, and reviewers. In addition, the publisher doesn’t have right to interfere with the integrity of the contents and only support to publish in timely manner.

For Editors

  1. Editors should be responsible for every articles published in Acta Biochimica Indonesiana.
  2. Editors should help authors to follow the instruction for the author.
  3. The editors may communicate with other editors or reviewers in making the final decision.
  4. An editor has to evaluate the manuscript objectively for publication, judging each on its quality without looking to nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the authors. He/she should decline his/her assignment when there is a potential of conflict of interest.
  5. Editors need to ensure the document sent to the reviewer does not contain the information of the author, vice versa.
  6. Editors’ decision should be informed to authors accompanied by reviewers’ comments unless they contain offensive or libelous remarks.
  7. Editors should respect requests from authors that an individual should not review the submission if these are well-reasoned and practicable.
  8. Editors and all staffs should guarantee the confidentiality of the submitted manuscript.
  9. Editors will be guided by COPE flowcharts if there is a suspected misconduct or disputed authorship.

For Reviewers

  1. Reviewers need to comment on ethical questions and possible research and publication misconduct.
  2. Reviewers will do the work in timely manner and should notify editor if they can not complete the work.
  3. Reviewers need to keep the confidentiality of the manuscript.
  4. Reviewers should not accept to review the manuscripts in which there is potential conflict of interest between them and any of the authors.

For Authors

  1. Author(s) affirm that the material has not been previously published and that they have not trans­ferred elsewhere any rights to the article.
  2. Author(s) should ensure the originality of the work and they have properly cited others’ work in accordance of the references format.
  3. Author(s) should not engage in plagiarism nor self-plagiarism.
  4. The author(s) haven’t suggested any personal information that may make the identity of the patient recognizable in any forms of description part, photograph or pedigree. When the photographs of the patient were essential and indispensable as scientific information, the author(s) have received the consent in written form and have clearly stated it.
  5. In case of experimenting on human, the authors have certified that the process of the research is in accordance with ethical standards of Helsinki declaration, domestic and foreign committees that preside over human experi­ment. If any doubts are raised whether the research was proceeded in accordance with the declaration, the authors should explain it. In case of experimenting on animals, the authors have certified that the authors had followed the domestic and foreign guideline related to experiment of animals in a laboratory.
  6. Author(s) should give the editor the data and details of the work, if there are suspicions of data falsification or fabrication.
  7. Authors of the journal should clarify everything that may cause conflict of interests such as work, research expenses, consul­tant expenses, and intellectual property on the document of ICMJE form disclosure.

 

Advertising Policy

Editorial materials will not be influenced by advertisement. Readers can criticize the advertisement by sending it to the office. Advertisement will appear in the print or online version depending on the request.
